Massive Samsung Galaxy S10 Leak Reveals 25 New Features

We know an awful lot about Samsung’s heavily redesigned 10th-anniversary Galaxy S10 range (including the big disappointment), but suddenly the mother lode has been hit because we can now fill in the gaps about almost every missing detail…
Thanks to an “inside source within Samsung’s retail channel”, the ever-popular GSMArena has been provided with detailed spec sheets for the entire Galaxy S10 range. While it’s mostly positive stuff, there are some concerns as well.

Due to the sheer amount of information, I’ve broken down the leaked specs into categories along with the takeaways for each section:
Designs

  • Galaxy S10e -7.9mm thick, 150g; IP68, USB-C, side power button fingerprint reader, Colors: Prism White, Prism Green, Prism Black, Canary Yellow
  • Galaxy S10 - 7.8mm thick, 157g; IP68, USB-C, in-display fingerprint reader, Colors: Prism White, Prism Green, Prism Black
  • Galaxy S10 Plus - 7.8mm thick, 175g; IP68, USB-C, in-display fingerprint reader, Colors: Prism White, Prism Green, Prism Black as well as Ceramic Black and White for 12GB RAM models
The highlights here are the different fingerprint reader positions, reduced weight compared to last year and a much wider array of launch colors than usual - particularly for the Galaxy S10e as it goes head-to-head with the iPhone XR.
Displays
  • Galaxy S10e  -5.8-inch AMOLED HDR+ Infinity O display, 2280 x 1080 pixels (438 ppi), 800 nits brightness, 19:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 6
  • Galaxy S10 - 6.1-inch AMOLED HDR+ Infinity O display, 3040 x 1440 pixels (550 ppi), 800 nits brightness, 19:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 6
  • Galaxy S10 Plus - 6.3-inch AMOLED HDR+ Infinity O display, 3040 x 1440 pixels (522 ppi), 800 nits brightness, 19:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 6
The surprise here is a boosted native resolution for the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus, while 800 nits would provide the highest peak brightness in smartphone history.

Performance
  • Galaxy S10e - Exynos 9820 8nm CPU, 6GB / 8GB RAM, 128GB / 256GB storage
  • Galaxy S10 - Exynos 9820 8nm CPU, 6GB / 8GB RAM, 128GB / 512GB storage
  • Galaxy S10 Plus - Exynos 9820 8nm CPU, 6GB / 8GB / 12GB RAM and 128GB / 512GB / 1TB storage
Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy S10 Plus gets the top RAM and storage options, but the entry-level Galaxy S10e is no slouch and 8GB RAM is not something my sources have reported before.
Cameras
  • Galaxy S10e - Rear: 12MP f1.5 wide-angle lens (77 degrees) with Dual Pixel, Dual Aperture, OIS and 16MP f2.2 ultra wide-angle lens (123 degrees) - Front: 10MP f1.9, Dual Pixel, 4K UHD video recording support
  • Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus - Rear: as above + 12-megapixel f2.4 telephoto lens (45 degrees) with OIS. Front: as above
While the triple reader cameras on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus are as expected, the dual camera on the Galaxy S10e was not. Given its big iPhone XR compromise, this could redeem it for some buyers.

Battery Life
  • Galaxy S10e -3,100 mAh battery, Wireless Power share, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0
  • Galaxy S10 - 3,400 mAh battery, as above
  • Galaxy S10 Plus - 4,100 mAh battery, as above
Welcome increases here and the Galaxy S10 Plus may be one of the longest lasting smartphones available.
Yes, it’s an exhaustive list and there is still more with GSMArena mentioning Dolby Atmos certification (like last year) and bundled AKG headphones (ditto - there is some debate whether the premium models will come bundled with wireless versions). Samsung’s slick new One UI will make its debut across all three models as well.
Sadly, the one missing detail is perhaps the biggest concern for most buyers: pricing.
Samsung is widely expected to substantially increase pricing for the entire Galaxy S10 range, with a 5G-enabled model coming later in the year at over $2,000. Whether Samsung has gone too far is likely to depend on how well it has taken the specifications above and moulded them into devices truly worthy of their 10th-anniversary status.
